Lakisha Montgomery, MSN, FNP-C

With over 20 years of diverse experience in healthcare, I am a dedicated Nurse Practitioner who is deeply committed to providing compassionate, whole-person care. My journey in medicine began as a phlebotomist and evolved through hands-on roles in hospital direct observation units, internal medicine, cardiology, urgent care, medical-surgical/telemetry, home health, case management, and family medicine—ultimately leading to my current focus in psychiatry.

My passion for nursing was sparked by caring for my mother, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when I was young. That experience laid the foundation for a career built on empathy, service, and a strong desire to make a difference. Despite early doubts and challenges—including working full time while raising three children and attending school at night—I pursued my goals relentlessly. I became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 2004, a Registered Nurse in 2013, a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2019, and most recently, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification graduate in 2025.

Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by inspiring healthcare professionals, including Dr. Howard Wynne, who helped shape my clinical thinking and approach to patient care. I am especially passionate about helping those with chronic or preventable conditions by fostering meaningful patient connections and offering care that supports both mental and physical well-being.

I hold a BSN from Grand Canyon University, an MSN from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a post-master’s PMHNP certification from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Outside of medicine, I’m a proud wife, mother of three, and dog mom who loves volunteering and spending quality time with my family.

My mission is simple yet profound: to deliver excellent care through love and service, ensuring every patient feels seen, heard, and truly cared for.
